There Is No Other Name: Leading Boldly in Life and Business

Written by George B. Thomas | Apr 24, 2025 8:59:08 PM

I woke up this morning with Acts 4:12 burning in my heart.

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."

Powerful. Provocative. Absolute.

As I reflected on it, I realized this verse isn’t just about eternity—it’s about how we live and lead today.

In a world addicted to options, Jesus is not one of many. He is the One. The only name that saves. The only name that truly empowers. And that clarity—when it settles deep in your soul—begins to reshape how you see everything: from your family to your faith, from your hustle to your leadership.

Let me show you what I mean.

When Boldness Meets Resistance

In Acts 4, Peter and John were arrested for healing a man and proclaiming the resurrection. The authorities told them to shut up. Sit down. Stop talking about Jesus.

They didn’t.

Instead, they gathered with other believers and prayed—not for comfort or escape—but for boldness.

That hit me.

When pressure shows up in business—deadlines, critics, cash flow problems—what’s my instinct? Is it to retreat or to rise? Do I pray for an easier path, or do I pray for strength to stay the course?

Peter and John didn’t ask God to remove the opposition. They asked Him to give them power to overcome it.

That’s leadership. That’s spiritual maturity. That’s Kingdom-minded business.

You Lead Strongest When You Lead From the Spirit

The early believers didn’t just hype themselves up with motivational talk. They relied on a deeper source—the Holy Spirit. God answered their prayer for boldness by filling them with His presence again. That’s how their faith grew deeper and their relationships grew stronger.

Let’s get practical.

In business, there are days when you feel the pressure to perform, impress, produce. But performance without presence leads to burnout. Presence—God’s presence—gives you stamina. Strategy. Sensitivity. The Spirit helps you discern what no spreadsheet can show you.

When I lead from that place, everything changes. My meetings become ministry. My decisions gain wisdom. My conversations carry weight. I stop living to survive and start leading to serve.

And here’s what’s wild: the more I surrender, the more confident I become.

Truth in a Culture of Options

Our world celebrates choice. Multiple paths. Personalized truth.

But Acts 4:12 disrupts that.

It draws a line in the sand. There is no other name by which we must be saved. And that truth doesn’t just apply to salvation—it applies to how we measure success.

In life and in business, there are many names you could chase:

  • The name of recognition.
  • The name of financial security.
  • The name of influence or fame.
  • The name of “I did it my way.”

But none of those names will save you when your soul is tired and your conscience is questioning. None of those names can carry the weight of your identity. Only Jesus can.

So here’s what I’ve learned—alignment is more valuable than applause. When you know the name you live for, the noise around you gets quieter. Decisions become clearer. And your legacy starts to take shape.

From Denial to Declaration

Peter, the man who declared Acts 4:12, was once the guy who denied Jesus three times. He was afraid. He was confused. He was ashamed.

But something changed.

He saw the risen Christ. He was filled with the Holy Spirit. And he discovered that boldness doesn’t come from personality—it comes from intimacy with God.

You don’t have to be fearless to lead. You just have to be filled.

You don’t have to have all the answers. But you do need to know the Name that holds them.

In business, I’ve been in boardrooms where people wear masks—playing the game, hiding the fear, bluffing the doubt. I’ve done it too. But I’ve also learned there’s a better way.

The Name of Jesus gives me the freedom to be authentic and the courage to be bold. To speak truth. To ask hard questions. To live and lead with conviction.

So What Now?

Ask yourself this:

  • Where do I need boldness right now—in life or business?
  • Am I asking God to remove the challenge or to strengthen me to face it?
  • Have I been chasing other names or building on the only Name that lasts?

The early church changed the world not because they were flashy, but because they were faithful. They were ordinary people with an extraordinary Name.

You and I? We’re invited to the same mission.

Let’s be believers who build businesses and lives that don’t bend under pressure—but stand firm in prayer.

Let’s teach, lead, mentor, and love in a way that declares:
There is no other name.
Not just in church.
But in our homes.
In our companies.
In our choices.

No other name under heaven.

Just Jesus.

And He’s enough.

If this stirred something in you, take a moment. Pray. Journal. Or better yet—share it. Because someone else needs the reminder too.

There is power in the Name. Let’s not keep it quiet.

Let’s lead like we believe it.

Prayer:

Jesus, You are the Name above every name.

In a world full of noise and pressure, help me stay anchored in You.

Give me boldness to lead with truth, love, and integrity—Not for applause, but for Your glory.

Fill me with Your Spirit, So I can stand firm in trials, speak with wisdom, And build what lasts beyond this life.

Remind me daily that there is no other name By which I live, lead, and am saved.

Amen.
