Jesus is Knocking: What’s Your Next Move in Life and Business?

Jesus is Knocking: What’s Your Next Move in Life and Business?
4:18

I don’t know about you, but I love a good invitation. Whether it’s an opportunity in business, a chance to connect with someone incredible, or a moment to grow, I want to be ready when it knocks.

But here’s the thing—too often, we’re so caught up in the hustle, the noise, the non-stop grind, that we don’t even hear the knocking. And that’s a problem.

Because what if the knock isn’t just another opportunity? What if it’s the most important one of your life?

In Revelation 3:20, Jesus says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”

That verse isn’t just about faith. It’s about life. It’s about business. It’s about leadership, growth, and making the right moves. Jesus is knocking—not just on the door of salvation, but on the doors of your decisions, your relationships, your priorities. The question is: Are you answering?

The Cost of Lukewarm Living

The original message in Revelation 3 was written to a group of people who had become lukewarm—neither hot nor cold. They weren’t totally against Jesus, but they weren’t fully committed either. Sound familiar?

It’s easy to slip into that lukewarm mindset in business and in life. You’re kinda invested, kinda passionate, kinda intentional. But kinda doesn’t build empires. Kinda doesn’t create impact. Kinda doesn’t lead to transformation.

Jesus’ words to the Laodiceans were blunt: “You think you have everything, but you’re actually poor, blind, and naked.” (Revelation 3:17, paraphrased).

That hits hard. We chase success, stack up wins, and tell ourselves we’re “good.” But are we really? Or have we just settled into comfortable?

Because here’s the reality: Comfort is the enemy of calling.

If you’re not growing, you’re declining. If you’re not moving forward, you’re falling behind. If you’re not answering the knock, you’re leaving opportunity—and blessing—on the table.

The Business of Answering the Knock

This isn’t just a spiritual principle; it’s a business principle. How many times have you ignored a chance to step up, take a risk, or shift your strategy because it was inconvenient? How often have you let distractions—emails, social media, busywork—keep you from the work that actually matters?

The greatest leaders, the most successful entrepreneurs, the people who make real impact—they answer the knock. They don’t let fear, pride, or complacency keep them from opening the door to what’s next.

So, let’s talk about how you can start answering the knock in practical ways:

  1. Audit Your Attention. What’s consuming your focus? Where are you spending time that doesn’t align with your real priorities? Cut the fluff.

  2. Check Your Comfort Zone. If everything feels easy right now, you might be lukewarm. Growth is uncomfortable. Lean into it.

  3. Listen for the Right Knocks. Not every knock is from Jesus. Some are distractions dressed up as opportunities. Pray. Discern. Be intentional.

  4. Take Action Quickly. When you hear the knock, don’t overthink it. Too many people let fear talk them out of their next level. Just open the door.

  5. Build Daily Habits of Connection. If you only listen for Jesus in crisis mode, you’ll miss His voice in the day-to-day. Develop habits—prayer, reflection, learning—that keep you tuned in.

Your Move

Jesus is knocking. On your business. On your leadership. On your life.

The greatest tragedy isn’t failure—it’s ignoring the opportunity to step into something greater. And make no mistake, He won’t force His way in. He waits. He invites. But the choice? That’s on you.

So what’s it gonna be?

Will you keep the door closed, stuck in the cycle of “good enough”? Or will you open it, step forward, and start walking in the purpose you were made for?

A Prayer for Action

God, I don’t want to be lukewarm. I don’t want to miss what You’re calling me to. Help me recognize the knocks You place in my life—whether in my faith, my work, or my relationships.

Give me the courage to open the door, to step forward, and to trust that what You have for me is greater than what I’d settle for on my own. I surrender my plans to You. I choose to listen, to move, and to follow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Now, go take action.
